    Bantimurung Waterfall the Best Destination in South Sulawesi

    Bantimurung  waterfall (15 meters in height and 20 meters wide) is a very famous natural tourism  destination in South Sulawesi. Pure water  falls down from the crag every year. Beneath the waterfall, there is a bathing  place made of limestone covered by mineral vein which is caused by the stream  flow for hundred years.
    Its depth is  around 10 to 90 centimeters. In the left side, there is a 10 meters high  concrete ladder leading to Mimpi cave and Baru cave.
    Besides having  wonderful waterfall, it is also a habitat of many rare species of butterfly.  The Dutch colonial government used to call it as “Kingdom of Butterfly.”  Moreover, England  naturalist named Alfred Passel Wallase, had ever stayed there for more than a  year doing observation and research on the rare species of butterfly. Nowadays,  visitors can still find and enjoy the beauty of colorful butterflies and  flowers there.

    How to Access Go To Location?

    Bantimurung  waterfall lies in Bantimurung sub-district, in the district of Maros, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. It is 20 km away  from Hasanuddin airport, 15 km away from Maros city, and 50 km from Makassar city. It can be reached by private car from Makassar for approximately an hour. On the other hand, it  will be 30 minutes from Hasanuddin airport by land using Pete-pete(minibus) or tourism bus.  The ticket price  is Rp. 5.000,00 for adult people and Rp. 3.500,00 for children.

    There are bungalow  and home stays for visitors who want more days enjoying its beautiful nature.  Along the entrance way, you will find some peddlers selling souvenirs like  padlock accessories and wall decoration in shape of butterfly. Those stuffs  cost about Rp.5000,- to Rp. 25.000,-.
