    Bantimurung  waterfall (15 meters in height and 20 meters wide) is a very famous natural tourism  destination in South Sulawesi. Pure water  falls down from the crag every year. Beneath the waterfall, there is a bathing  place made of limestone covered by mineral vein which is caused by the stream  flow for hundred years.
    Its depth is  around 10 to 90 centimeters. In the left side, there is a 10 meters high  concrete ladder leading to Mimpi cave and Baru cave.
    Besides having  wonderful waterfall, it is also a habitat of many rare species of butterfly.  The Dutch colonial government used to call it as “Kingdom of Butterfly.”  Moreover, England  naturalist named Alfred Passel Wallase, had ever stayed there for more than a  year doing observation and research on the rare species of butterfly. Nowadays,  visitors can still find and enjoy the beauty of colorful butterflies and  flowers there.

    Bantimurung  waterfall lies in Bantimurung sub-district, in the district of Maros, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. It is 20 km away  from Hasanuddin airport, 15 km away from Maros city, and 50 km from Makassar city. It can be reached by private car from Makassar for approximately an hour. On the other hand, it  will be 30 minutes from Hasanuddin airport by land using Pete-pete(minibus) or tourism bus.  The ticket price  is Rp. 5.000,00 for adult people and Rp. 3.500,00 for children.

    There are bungalow  and home stays for visitors who want more days enjoying its beautiful nature.  Along the entrance way, you will find some peddlers selling souvenirs like  padlock accessories and wall decoration in shape of butterfly. Those stuffs  cost about Rp.5000,- to Rp. 25.000,-.

Nimanga River, Best Rafting in North Sulawesi

Nimanga River is one of the most favorite tourism  destinations in the North Sulawesi. It has  been popular as it is used for any kind of extreme sports and other activities.  It will be great experience for having an extreme sport such as rafting along  the river. If you are not eager to do that, you may spend the night with  friends or family in the campground by building tents while enjoying the beauty  of its natural environment.

The Beautiful of Mahawu Mountain

    Besides Soputan Mountain, there is a famous mountain  that still actives named Mahawu Mauntain or Roemengas (1300 m). Temporary activities of  people living there such as farming and other activities can be found but in  small account. It has erupted for many times since 1789. The last eruption was  in 1999.
    Climbing is  permitted for people less than fives because there is no enough space for  camping on the peak. Otherwise, the camp ground on the peak is close with the  mountain`s cauldron. As high sulfur content on the peak, it is not suggested  for people who easily get tired because inhaling sulfur may cause headache and  queasy.
    Not only wonderful  scenery surrounding the mountain that will be offered to the climbers, but also  the nature and the enchantment of the protected forest that is 600 to 1200  meters above the sea surface will be unforgettable experience for the climbers.  In addition, we will see many farmers of cloves, vegetables, chocolates, and  fruits surrounding there. It is nearby Lokon Mountain  as a right place if we want to enjoy a geological tourism destination.

    Location Mahawu Mountain

    There are three  cauldrons around Mahawu Mountain, Mahawu, Wagio,  and Mawuas. Geographically, it lies in 01º - 21, 5º of north latitude and 124º  - 51, 5º of east longitude. It belongs to Tomohon sub-district, Minahasa, North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia.
    It is 25 km away  from Manado. To  reach the destination, we can take accessible public transportations or rent a  car from Manado to Tomohon sub-district till the  check post of the Mahawu Mountain and the Lokon Mountain  in Kakaskasen village. Just continue the journey to the destination by public transportations  until Rurukan village and the last part of the trip must be done by walking  through the footpath for approximately 2 hours.

The equator monument was built to mark the zero point of the equator line crossing over Pontianak City. Historically, it was built by the Dutch geographer in 1928 to mark the imaginary line of equator. Formerly, the monument was just a simple obelisk on which a metallic arrow. Silaban, an Indonesian architect, refurbished the obelisk in 1938 by adding a circle above it. Finally, in 1990, the local government decided to preserve this great monument by building a dome with a duplicate of former obelisk above it.

On March 2005, Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi – BPPT (the Center for Technological Application and Research) did a correction towards the appropriate zero point of the equator in Pontianak City. After a long-term research, the result shows that the zero point of equator crossing over Pontianak City is 117 meters of the former monument towards the Kapuas River.

Standing beneath the equator line precisely cleaving the earth is a memorable moment. In the location, you may see the former obelisk and its early history and all information relating to the monument as well. Withal, an information board about the statistic of visitors from either domestic or foreign countries is available for you who want to know such information. Situ Patengan derives from two words of Sundanese language, Situ means lake and patengan means searching for each other. Such derivation has its own history that is, when a couple who loved each other had to live in separate. They were Raden Indrajaya and Dewi Rengganis. As they suffered a long term of sadness, their tears caused to flood a land that in recent it is known as Situ Patengan (Lake Patengan). Finally, they could meet each other after a long term of being separated, but Dewi Rengganis asked for an island to be located in the center of the lake and likiwise a boat for hanging around the island. An island called Asmara Island/Sasaka Island in the center of the lake is assumed as the shaping out of the boat of the couple.

    Lake Linow is a unique lake for its high level of sulphur content that cause it  tends to turn its color based on the viewing perspective and the lighting angle  of the sun.
